The ranking based on viewership and influence was derived by using analytics apps that provide data on website readership numbers and brands and their social influence. To provide an objective ranking based on quality and brand, a select team of notable news editors were asked to provide their top ten list of news platforms, the reasons why and the final result was derived from the data.
